The complexity of this crisis is far bigger than it may appear at first sight, since an escalation would have significant effects on other global areas. Since the Iran revolution in 1979, the interrelation of both states has been deeply clouded. Not only has the seizure of power of the Ayatollahs’ turned the United States from an ally to an opponent, but the hostage-drama as well. Later on in August 2002, the American - Iranian contradiction hit its peak, when an Iranian group of opponents divulged information about the possible production of secret uranium enrichment and investigations of the IAEA were able to substantiate the suspicion.
