This two volume book comprising approximately 1500 pages contains contributions from 49 petroleum geologists working in companies or institutions all over the world - from Calgary to Manila, Oslo and Madrid. The purpose of this book is to provide concise information on the petroleum geology of all continents and virtually all countries of the world. Almost half of the contributions are in English, the rest in German. All figure captions are in both languages.
Volume 1 contains 69 articles describing all petroleum geologically relevant
countries of Europe and Asia. Written mainly by regional specialists, these
articles cover exploration history, production, reserves and remaining
potential. They give a geological overview of the country, describe and
discuss the sedimentary basins and particularly the petroleum systems
(from source rock to oil or gas field). The contributions concentrate on all
relevant areas and deal with all known petroleum habitats. Case studies of
individual fields, however, are not presented in detail.
